This Weekend's Treasures

This weekend' s find is a Welbilt Breadmaker for $5.00 and a vintage Argus C-3 with an nice leather case for $10.00. There were many more treasures out there because of moving sales from all of the foreclosures! How about a fishing boat and trailer for only $50, all it needs is an outboard motor! I just don't have the space!!

Suggestions for a Successful Garage Sale

  • Place your ad for free in Craigslist and GSRoute.com
  • Your ad should be short and concise with a full address including a Zip Code
  • Listing all of your items is not advised, because a buyer could be very disappointed when they arrive and the item is no longer there. Use general terms such as Tools, Toys, Children's Clothing etc.
  • Use large signs in strategic areas including cross streets, if you have a long straight path, be sure to have signs along the way to assure the buyer is on the right path.
  • Make sure the signs are all the same style. You may have competition, and your customers may be "hijacked" by another garage sale sign.
  • Price stickers should be used on low cost items $1 - $5. You may scare a potential buyer with a sticker of $20. Higher priced items are sold best when the there is interaction with the seller. Many garage sale buyers like to haggle, it is a game and they like to feel that that got "a deal".
  • After your sale, as a courtesy, please take your garage sale signs down! Thank you.
